Brent Paterson and Christa Coffey, authors of “Managing the First Job Search Process” in the NASPA publication,
Beginning Your Journey:
A Guide for New Professionals in Student Affairs, will share their wisdom and
help you prepare for your job search. Paterson and Coffey have extensive experience with placement conferences including The Placement Exchange
and its predecessor, NASPA Career Services. Both Paterson and Coffey have served as chairs
of placement conferences. In their professional roles, they assist graduate students with preparing for
the job search.

The perspective of one couple will be presented by Bernie Liang, Director of Student Activities at Seattle University and Ryan Hamachek,
Director of Housing and Residence Life at Cornish College of the Arts.
They have navigated through four searches since becoming a couple in 2007.
Preliminary research on dual career couples in higher education conducted by Bridget Kelly, Bernie Liang, and Monica Nixon will also be presented.
Participants will be able to dialog and take part in a question and answer period at the end of the session.
