It may be August in student affairs, but it is definitely not like any other August we have experienced. I hope that regardless of how your campus is moving forward (remote, in-person, and/or hybrid), that the preparation for the start of the semester is going well.
TPE has been evolving over the past few years with an emphasis on leveraging technology to create more opportunities to enhance both the employer (recruitment) experience as well as the candidate (job search) experience. We have simultaneously been intentional in thinking about the limitations around access that coincide with a place-based in-person interview event. While the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated our timeline, we are at a point in time where we are ready - and excited - to make this leap to a virtual offering.
TPE 2021 will be entirely virtual. TPE will spend the next few months continuing to focus on building a new and enhanced virtual TPE experience to best serve the needs of our employers and candidates. At the same time, we understand the current uncertainty around spring recruitment season and hiring possibilities. A completely virtual TPE will also provide for greater flexibility for employers, as well as fewer financial limitations (travel, hotel, time away from work, etc.) for both candidates and interview teams.
We will have more information available in early to mid-fall about TPE 2021. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out with any questions. We know that the higher education landscape is changing now more than ever, and TPE looks forward to working with our campus colleagues to assist with the next iteration of the student affairs recruitment and job search process.
We wish you all the best as you start the academic year.
