As a registered TPE Onsite candidate, The Placement Exchange invites you to a private interview training session that will take place prior to the opening of the TPE Onsite event.
What is TPE Onsite Boot Camp?
The TPE Onsite Boot Camp is an informative, supportive and challenging program provided to candidates who seek additional guidance and advice on the TPE experience. Whether you feel prepared or a need for more opportunities to hear from those who have participated in numerous search processes--from candidate to chair--Boot Camp can fit that need. Candidates who register will be invited to participate in four separate sessions, receive both group and individual attention, and hear insightful information that proves invaluable in a candidate's final preparations for the Interview Hall.
Boot Camp occurs on Wednesday, March 9, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is required to attend and there are limited seats available. Registrants will receive additional information and expectations for making the most of this experience.
What Will Be Covered During the Three Sessions?
Researching Institutions and Developing Strong Thoughtful Interview Questions
This session will be led by two facilitators at different points in their professional careers. They will share strategies for how to research institutions during TPE and afterwards as you prepare for follow-up interviews and campus visits/interviews. They will also discuss how to develop interview questions that will set you apart from other candidates and share strategies for selecting the “right” questions for your “audience”.
Strengths Quest and Strategies for Sharing Your Themes in an Interview
The presenter(s) for this session are familiar with StrengthsQuest and will share tips and strategies to address your Top 5 themes directly and indirectly during the interview process. The session will give you insight to know when and how to share your Strengths and how to use this tool to your advantage.
Mock Interviews
Candidates will have the opportunity to participate in mock interviews with seasoned professionals from various institutions and functional areas. In addition, candidates will receive feedback on how they can improve their skills to ensure future interviewing success.
Competencies Based Reflections
Hear from two experienced practitioners on how to utilize the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies as a lens for reflective responses during your interview experience. Learning where you may currently fall in the spectrum of these competencies can provide you with insight into your successes and how achieving in the position you seek can impact your development as a professional.
