Position Description

Academic Advising Coordinator (21743B)

The School of Accounting is hiring an academic advising coordinator for the Master of Accounting Program. Coordinator designs, implements, oversees and evaluates advising programs that contribute to the academic advising mission of the institution. We are seeking a highly professional, motivated, and creative individual to work as a part of our team to advise MAcc students and help with programming. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills and the ability to perform a wide range of tasks and a desire to be a part of a dynamic and collaborative team that is dedicated to improving the MAcc Program and the School of Business overall. This position requires tenacity, energy, exceptional communication and customer service skills.

COMPENSATION: $39,300 to $72,700

WORK SCHEDULE: 8-5 Monday – Friday with other hours as needed

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Advises Masters of Accounting students from enrollment through graduation. Including overseeing plan of study and graduation requirements.
2. Establishes program direct and objectives, prepares, and administers budget and manages available resources (e.g. money, supplies, etc.)
3. Assess needs of students and adjusts the structure of the program to address those needs
4. Works in a collaborate environment with admission, undergraduate advising, and career services
5. Assists in the selection of other support staff
6. Serves on various University committees to initiate change and to resolve issues related to academic services and curriculum requirements
7. Provides advising services to a diverse student population by performing the duties of an Academic Advisor
8. Develops, monitors, and conducts educational seminars and workshops for students
9. Plans, develops, and establishes new programming to meet identified needs of MAcc students
10. Develops and prepared advising materials, such as training manuals, brochures, handouts, general information summaries and newsletters
11. Participates in location and national professional associations by serving on planning committees and presenting at conferences and seminars
13. Some travel may be required

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree a related area plus three years experience in academic advising, guidance and counseling or equivalency; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

Master’s degree and significant supervision and advising experience preferred.
