Position Description

NYU's academic center in Washington, DC is a centrally located, multipurpose facility that opened in fall 2012. Students enroll in a full academic course load and engage in carefully selected and academically supervised internships. Concentrated study and research in an array of subjects is enhanced by access to Washington's distinctive intellectual, political, and cultural life. NYU Washington, DC is characterized by its curricular emphasis on policy; its programmatic focus on applied and experiential learning through internships and service projects; its access to a network of distinguished NYU alumni in the DC area and other high-level contacts in a variety of fields; its dynamic public programming; and, finally, its proximity to New York City. Under the supervision of the Director, the Administrative Program Coordinator (APC) will help support the functions and activities of the NYU Washington, DC Center. This includes administrative support for academic affairs, student/residence life, co-curricular and public events, and the office operations of the Washington, D.C. Center. This position also provides significant administrative support to visitors at the site. Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Education, International Affairs, Event Management, etc.) or the equivalent.

Preferred Education:
Experience with overseeing events, managing social media, CMS and international education highly favorable. Experience living, studying or working in Washington, D.C.

Required Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an office administration, higher education, nonprofit or foundation administration, or event management role. Experience in planning and implementing administrative activities in an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidates must show evidence of their ability to work in Washington, DC.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with overseeing events, managing social media, CMS and international education highly favorable. Experience living, studying or working in Washington, D.C.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Significant nighttime and weekend support required. Solid organizational and administrative skills, with a proven ability to prioritize projects with attention to detail. Proactive with excellent problem solving and communication skills. Self-motivated and with a high level of initiative. Excellent intercultural and interpersonal communications skills. Familiar with US culture. Ability to identify and prioritize assignments to ensure deadlines are met and review work for accuracy. Ability to market programs, solve problems and interact with individuals at all levels. Energetic and results oriented. Collaborative team member. Flexible and patient (adaptable in a fast changing environment). Proven writing and editing skills: the ability to draft memos & letters, create and manage websites, etc. Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel. Working knowledge of various software applications including HTML, web programming, Excel, and PowerPoint. Good knowledge of academic policies and procedures.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Previous experience in an academic organization will be considered a plus.
