Position Description

New York Film Academy, Los Angeles, California

The New York Film Academy was founded in 1992 on the belief that a top-quality education in filmmaking should be accessible to anyone with the drive and ambition to make films. The school opened at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Center in New York City, and has expanded worldwide to include campuses in New York; Los Angeles; Miami; Sydney, and Gold Coast, Australia.

The mission of the New York Film Academy is to educate students interested in the field of visual storytelling. NYFA courses have been designed to increase students’ creativity and technical expertise through an intense regimen of hands-on and classroom instruction. The Academy’s goal is to enrich its students as visual storytellers by helping them realize their personal artistic visions. NYFA’s expectations center on the growth of each student as a creative individual.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Alumni Affairs Coordinator will  organize and maintain the functions of the department, and to serve as a resource for students, faculty and staff. The ideal candidate is a dynamic communicator, with the ability to represent the New York Film Academy in large-scale presentations, one-on-one appointments, college fairs, conferences, and various events. Time management, flexibility, meticulous organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as a motivated self-starter are all crucial for success in the position. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, demanding and creative atmosphere providing services to our diverse students from around the world.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary and be shared with other personnel.

  • Build Alumni Affairs for all Campuses in order to grow and engage alumni community
  • Develop Social Media strategy for Alumni
  • Engage and track recognition for alums
  • Blog about Alumni success stories
  • Expand the use of and manage Social Media
  • Manage and grow a newly launched Alumni Website
  • Develop new social events with outcomes tied to alumni engagement.
  • Manages the systems, events, marketing and utilizing software to its fullest capacity.
  • Foster an active international Alumni community
  • Partner closely with students, staff, and Alumni to identify existing and new traditions that should be enhanced or elevated to be more inclusive, celebratory, and meaningful to connect students early on and then extend to an invested and enthusiastic Alumni community
  • Manages the strategy and approach to building more meaningful and diverse recognition opportunities for students and Alumni that will allow the New York Film Academy Alumni Association to cultivate connections with successful Alumni
  • Create Alumni Relations communications including email blasts, newsletters, social media, web content and job postings.
  • Brainstorm, implement and staff College events as needed
  • Liaise between alumni, faculty, and administration, reporting departmental progress, issues and concerns to administration.
  • Prepare departmental documents and reports and oversee the departmental records

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be a self starter 
  • Broad knowledge of the industry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in a MAC environment.  Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Ethical/Honest - evidence of the practice of a high level confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2-3 years directly working in Alumni Affairs required
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in program development, event management and/or stewardship (or equivalent combination of education and experienced)
