Position Description

Summary

Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM) has formed a unique partnership with the University of Maryland, College Park through the management of two apartment living communities that serve nearly three thousand students.  The South Campus Commons location is seeking applicants for the Assistant Director of Financial Services position.  

The Assistant Director-Financial Services is responsible for overseeing all administrative tasks associated with accounts receivable and resident accounts for a student apartment community. Duties include, but are not limited to, delinquency management, resident and guarantor financial communication, data entry, resident education, budget assistance, supervision of staff, and after-hours duty response. Projecting a customer focused and professional image through interactions with all internal and external customers is imperative.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lives on site and participates in 24-hour emergency response rotation.  Responds to emergency calls by assessing the situation and determining the best course of action.
Oversees the collection of rent, daily deposits, and collection of past due accounts.  Ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of the collections process.
Maintains payment plan documentation and details.  Oversees all communications regarding payment plans.
Supervises mailings to residents and/or parents regarding accounts, move-out information, and other topics as needed.
Supervises monthly eviction filings with the court. Represents SCC at court hearings.
Oversees process of closing resident accounts, including processing refunds, collecting balances, processing appeals, and negotiating payment plans.
Oversees the move-out inspections process throughout the year and organizes the move-out inspection days at lease end.
Maintains accurate records and files for past residents.
Oversees digitizing of past resident records in accordance with company guidelines and applicable laws.
Assists with planning of move-in with other Assistant Directors.
Assists with management of operations budget including tracking expenses, reconciling revenues, and controlling costs. 
Provides reports showing deposits, delinquency, budget activity, and as-needed information.
Reviews and manages the financial appeals process.
Oversees Staff ID cards.  Collaborates with UMD Office of Residential Facilities to coordinate staff ID card access systems.
Ensures all expectations for professionalism and customer response & support are upheld within the main office.
Other duties as assigned.
Directly supervises one Account Coordinator and one Administrative Assistant.

Master’s degree in related field and at least three years related experience and/or training.  Demonstrated experience in college student housing, administration, customer service and supervision are all desired.

Compensation package: salary $45,000 - $47,000, a furnished, on campus apartment, excellent benefits including medical, dental, 401K and professional development funding.
