Position Description

Shippensburg University is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director for Residence Life.  Starting salary:  $48,118 annually including an extensive benefits package and tuition waiver for employee and dependents. This position is a 12-month live-on assignment which will include serving as an emergency on-call person for the campus community.  An apartment located on the University campus will be provided.

The Assistant Director position is a central part of the leadership team in a housing system of 2,700.  The position serves as a professional staff member in the Office of Housing and Residence Life responsible for assisting with all facets of residence life for a community consisting of 3-4 residence halls and between 900-1,300 students. The position will be responsible for the direct and indirect supervision of all staff in their respective area and the overall development of safe, secure and comfortable living and learning communities that foster academic success.

The Assistant Director will assist with the individual interactions-based programming model newly introduced in the 2018-19 academic year. The position will serve as a resource and communication link with parents/guardians concerning residence life issues affecting the students living in their residence hall communities.  Along with providing leadership to staff and students the Assistant Director will assist with the recruitment, selection and training of housing and residence life staff, assist in the development of policies and procedures and coordinate annual budgetary needs.

Qualified candidates will have a Master’s Degree and three years of supervisory experience in a college student housing setting.  Supervisory experience must be from a post-Master’s Degree professional assignment.  Successful performance in an on-campus interview is required.
