SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of the Office of Intercultural Engagement & Leadership is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a multi-year/multi-tier leadership program that encompasses emerging leaders through the senior year experience and beyond.  The position is responsible for increasing student engagement and leadership involvement by developing and implementing creative ways to involve students in leadership development, education and service opportunities. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists Director in developing, enhancing and delivering campus wide leadership and social justice initiatives.
Works in close collaboration with Campus Life and Student Development, Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management to promote comprehensive and intentional workshops and retreats.
Coordinates the recruitment, selection, logistics, training and evaluation of conferences.
Co-facilitates the Lion Peer Education program.
Serves as a planning committee chair for the Social Justice Summit and the I-Experience Leadership Conference.
Oversees budgetary items for leadership conferences , including maintaining a university procurement card.
Assists Director in implementing and maintaining social media and traditional marketing strategies.
Utilizes CAS, EBI and other assessments to insure that our students’ leadership opportunities meet or exceed national standards.
Involves all organizations in University wide involvement programs throughout the year to increase participation and involvement of all segments of the campus community.
Responsible for tracking and maintaining inventory control for the equipment/props/tools that are a part of the extensive collection of leadership training initiatives.
Serves on major University Committees as assigned.
Prepares and submits proposals for the department to present programs at regional and national conferences and events.
Participates in and joins professional organizations.
Other leadership programming responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s in higher education, leadership, student personnel, education administration or related field
Experience: Six (6) years of related experience (direct or indirect) with transferable skills. Experience in developing/managing budgets,  college student development, leadership development, and/or programming.
Knowledge / Skills: Experience with sound mentoring theory and application. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a broad constituency, including administrators, faculty, staff, students and parents. Must value diversity and possess ability to work with other from different backgrounds. Must model strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and flexibility in problem-solving. Ability to excel given an extensive workload within a fast-paced environment
Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Licensing/Professional Certifications: None
Physical Requirements: None
Other Requirements: Ability to work nights and weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Development, or applicable field, two (2) years’ experience in student activities programming and working with and developing budgets. Experience with developing and training student leaders.  Strengths Quest Educator.
