Position Description

The Assistant Director is charged with leading collaborative residential programs and experiences to contribute to the achievement of students’ highest personal potential. Our intended learning outcomes are centered on student learning, wellness, inclusion and the creation of vibrant communities. Under the general direction of an Associate Director of Residence Life, the Assistant Director is responsible for the management, budget and programs within designated residence halls on Columbus and/or smaller Ohio State campuses; Supervises full-time staff; works closely with academic departments, staff and faculty to advance learning communities and academic initiatives; maintains positive collaborative relationships with a variety of university staff and faculty; serves on or chairs committees; provides on-call and crisis response; participates in the leadership of the department including program and protocol development, staff selection and training and evaluation, budget responsibilities and programmatic assessment.


Job Requirements

Required qualifications: Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or Student Personnel Administration or related field; supervisory experience; four years of post-Master’s degree professional experience, with two years of professional residence life experience; demonstrated experience working with diverse students.

Desired qualifications: Experience supervising Master’s degree level professional staff; strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
