Position Description

Serves as a member of the Residential Life leadership team. Leads and manages multiple residential communities and the professional staff, graduate student staff and student staff within those communities. Responsible for the recruitment, selection and training of undergraduate student staff. Chairs and/or participates in Residential Life Committees. Services in the on-call duty rotation with other residential life leadership team staff

  • Directly supervises Residential Life Coordinators.
  • Oversees the recruitment, selection, training and on-going development of undergraduate student staff to include Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants.
  • Serves as a member of the leadership team for Housing and Residential Life. Assists with the development and implementation of department goals and objectives. Assists in department planning and decision making.
  • Maintains daily contact with students. Responds to student issues and concerns. Maintains regular contact with staff, faculty, administrators, and other campus partners
  • Responds to residence hall crises and emergencies. Performs essential duties during any emergencies, including hurricanes, storms, and/or any other major university incident. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
  • Manages assigned budget for specific initiatives/areas. Makes purchases for the department using the University P-card. Must comply with all university policies and procedures related to purchases.
  • Serves in the on-call duty rotation with other members of the residential life leadership team.
  • Attends programs, meetings and/or activities which may take place on evenings, weekends and holidays. Represents Housing and Residential Life at events hosted by Admissions, Orientation, and/or other campus partners.
  • Assists with development and execution of residential life initiatives that include community traditions, community-wide events and other strategies that foster the learning outcomes of the residential curriculum.
  • Serves on Department, University and Division Committees.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in related discipline and two (2) years' experience in associated discipline with experience in a management role having significant business impact.

Departmental Requirements:
Experience in Student Housing and Residential Life.

  • **Applications due October 10.** TPE is currently seeking applications for the TPE Graduate Ambassador Program. TPE Grad Ambassadors represent the most engaged schools across the country, and from their ranks. In the Ambassador role, graduate students from institutions are provided advanced information about TPE resources and programs to assist their fellow students who are planning to job search in the coming years. Selected Ambassadors work with The Placement Exchange in a variety of ways. Primarily, Ambassadors serve on campuses as the main communication conduit to their peers and faculty. They are given the most up-to-date information about all of the resources available within Student Affairs through The Placement Exchange and our sponsoring associations (ACUHO-I and NASPA) in order to convey important information to their peers and other prospective candidates on campus.
