Assistant Director of Residential Success

The Assistant Director for Residential Success is responsible for fostering an environment for students conducive to both personal and professional growth for students and achieving the objectives of a successful University Housing program that connects to the academic mission of CSU.
This position sets the vision for the programmatic aspects of a comprehensive community development program focused on learning within the residence halls. Primary responsibilities include: supervision of 3 Coordinators, lead the coordination and implementation of programs related to involvement, co-curricular, and diversity and social justice, and serve as a liaison to Student Case Management and other campus student support resources. In addition, the Assistant Director serves in an on-call rotation for 8000 students living on-campus. The Assistant Director will carry out their responsibilities under the supervision of the Director of University Housing.
The selected candidate will be well-organized and able to work effectively under pressure with multiple and consistently changing deadlines, possess interpersonal communication skills, administrative skills, and demonstrated experience taking initiative. In addition, the Assistant Director will need a strong ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with multiple constituents including campus offices, students, staff, faculty members and various other community groups.
In addition, experience working with diverse individuals such as non-traditional aged, religiously diverse, gender, international, people with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender, and persons of color is essential to be effective in the Assistant Director position
Required Job Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education or related field
• 3 years of full-time professional experience in Student Affairs and/or Housing
• Supervision of various levels of staff (i.e. paraprofessional, graduate, professional, etc.)
• Experience in leading residential communities in a college/university setting
• Experience working with people from a broad diversity of backgrounds
Preferred Job Qualifications
• Experience with analyzing and resolving conflict, team building, group dynamics
• Experience with crisis management and ability for problem solving
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships
• Experience with managing budgets and fiscal processes
