Job Requirements

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement is responsible for contributing to the overall goals of the Center for Student Engagement & Leadership by supporting a lively, active, and supportive campus community environment which is conducive to academic achievement and student growth. The Assistant Director will serve as a team member to develop, market, implement, and assess initiatives supported by the department. Some primary responsibilities of this position include the oversight of student leadership programs, student organizations, and campus programming. This position will also provide programmatic support Weeks of Welcome and university-wide events. This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Student Leadership Development

  • Coordinate fall student leadership training
  • Recruit, train, and provide ongoing development for student leaders
  • Oversee EMERGE, first-year student leadership development program

Campus Programming and Recreation

  • Advise Dillard Activities Board
  • Coordinate campus traditions including Homecoming, Spring Fest, and Spring Fling
  • Coordinate campus-wide recreational activities

Student Organization Administration

  • Implement comprehensive training program for student organization officers and advisors including customized workshops
  • Advise Student Organization council, an advisory group for Student Engagement and Leadership
  • Ensure all student organizations are in compliance with university policies and procedures

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of a multi-purpose student engagement office and student union, which provides an array of services to the university community
  • Serve on University committees as appointed
  • Assume the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA), including but not limited to, reporting crimes as defined through the Clery Act and providing annual reporting statistics
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Engagement & Leadership
  • Frequent evening and/or weekend work is required
