Position Description

We are looking for a passionate professional who has a rich understanding of trends in health behaviors and health promotion to help build our division’s first wellbeing department. Our division currently serves 42,000 students and 2,900 faculty/staff, alumni, and community members. You will have the opportunity to develop services for these populations within a brand new $96 million facility, help design a wellness suite in a second $108 million facility, work alongside a group of recreation programmers, and collaborate with other wellness professionals across campus to advocate for and plan wellbeing initiatives.

A successful candidate will expertly blend your expertise, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit to develop strategies that integrate wellbeing into all aspects of our operations and programs. The Assistant Director of Wellbeing is a full-time employee, reporting to the Director of Rec Sports, and is directly responsible for all oversight of our brand new wellbeing department, including goal-setting, program design, budget management, and researching and implementing trends that support the strategic initiatives of the division.

Basic Function/Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Wellbeing develops strategies, programming, and resources for integrating wellbeing into all aspects of the Division’s operations and programs. The position is focused on the Divisional and University’s mission of health and wellbeing and meeting the holistic needs of a wide array of campus constituents.  The Assistant Director of Wellbeing will establish the vision, design, and implementation of wellbeing for all users of Recreational Sports (soon to be renamed University Recreation and Wellbeing). This person will work in coordination with the Director and other campus collaborators to deliver comprehensive wellbeing services to the University.  This position is expected to build, develop, and cultivate relationships with numerous Division, campus, and community constituents.  The Assistant Director of Wellbeing must stay abreast of local, regional, and national trends in collegiate health and wellness.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree required in the field of health and wellness (i.e. community health, public health, kinesiology, nutrition, recreation) or a related field; highest consideration will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion or a related field.

A minimum of two (2) years professional experience in organizational wellbeing programming and related work is required. Experience in the planning and implementation of wellbeing programming and collaborative wellbeing programs required.
