Starting Salary Range: $125,500 - $140,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under the general direction of the Vice Provost for Student Success, the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Career Success and Executive Director, Career Center (AVCCS and ED) will serve as a transformational campus leader and senior administrator who will provide campus-wide strategic leadership, vision, direction, as well as administrative and fiscal oversight of the UCSC Career Center. The AVCCS and ED will develop and lead the Career Center as a collaborative, action-oriented, and enterprise focused program facilitating career readiness and success for the entire campus. Working with the Career Center, and actively engaging other campus partners including academic divisions and departments, advisors, alumni relations, admissions, student organizations, etc., the AVCCS and ED will ensure that high-quality career readiness programs and services benefit all relevant stakeholders, including undergraduate and graduate students; employers and other community partners; alumni; and university leadership, staff and faculty. The AVCCS and ED serves as a key adviser to the Vice Provost for Student Success and other campus leaders and is a member of the Student Success Leadership Team. The AVCCS and ED represents UCSC career services in campuswide, regional, and systemwide meetings and initiatives.

Qualifications include:

Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Demonstrated professional experience in a leadership role in career services, recruiting, advancement, higher education administration, human resources, student services, or related field.

Advanced knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling processes, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.

Demonstrated leadership in evidence-based and consensus-driven decision making leading to optimal results.

Expertise with strategic planning and budget management.


Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
