Position Description

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement is responsible for leading programs as a part of the departmental programming initiative including daytime building programming, student organization programming and departmental programs.  This position develops, implements, and assesses departmental events and programs with a focus on community building and student connections.  The Assistant Director provides comprehensive oversight of the LBC and Commons complex programming, Pocket Park programming, student organization advising of Tulane University Campus Programming (TUCP), and the Student Activity Expos.  The Assistant Director also leads the management and implementation of building installations in and around the LBC and Commons complex.  The Assistant Director reports to the LBC Associate Director of Programming.  Evening and weekend work may be required.

  • Knowledge of event planning and program implementation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with student employees
  • Ability to be self-directed with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate and work with a diverse client base
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a non-specified field of study and 1 year of related Student Affairs or relevant experience
  • OR
  • High school diploma/equivalent and 7 years of related Student Affairs or relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in student personnel, college student development, higher education administration, or related field
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Experience in assessment practices
  • Experience with campus programming
