Associate Director:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Wellness Promotion, this full-time, twelve-month position resides in the Office of Wellness Promotion within the Division of Student Affairs.  Reporting to the Senior Director of Wellness Promotion, the Associate Director supports the mission of the department by providing evidence-based, data driven wellness promotion initiatives based on measurable learning outcomes aimed to improve both individual and community health.  The Associate Director is responsible for administering a comprehensive peer education program and providing supervision to several undergraduate students and a graduate assistant.  The Associate Director works closely with the Senior Director to develop and maintain department strategic planning and assessment measures aligning with the division and institution mission, vision and strategic plan.  The Associate Director coordinates promotional and marketing efforts for the Office of Wellness Promotion and serves as a departmental representative on campus and community coalitions/work groups.
 
The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director are:

Coordinate Student Wellness Ambassador Peer Education Program:
Recruit, interview and hire undergraduate student paraprofessional peer educators.
Coordinate all University requirements for Wellness Ambassadors including student payroll, background clearances, access to department resources, etc.
Organize training and ongoing professional development opportunities for Wellness Ambassadors.
Provide ongoing supervision to Wellness Ambassadors and conduct individual performance evaluations at the end each academic year.
Align Wellness Ambassador initiatives with strategic planning and assessment efforts, including coordinating assessment of student learning outcomes.
Oversee department budget allocated to the Wellness Ambassador program.

Department Outreach and Administrative Support:
Assist the Director in short and long-term strategic planning and assessment efforts that advance the Office of Wellness Promotion Strategic Plan, Division of Student Affairs Strategic Plan and WCU Strategic Plan.
Oversee department marketing and communication pieces around wellness promotion, including websites, print and social media.
Supervise Office of Wellness Promotion graduate assistant.
Provide support for Division wide activities and programs such as First Year and Transfer Orientation, New Student Programs, etc.
Manage incoming requests from constituents for educational programs.

Coordinate, Develop, Implement and Assess Campus Wellness Initiatives:
Plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based wellness promotion programming.
Collaborate with department to use evidence-based practices to develop, implement and assess campus-wide awareness campaigns.
Collaborate with university personnel and departments to collaborate on wellness promotion programming and activities.
Provide individual student assistance with personal health issues through Wellness Consultations and make appropriate referrals when indicated.
Develop and deliver development programs for staff, faculty, and student workers.

General Duties that support above:
Assist in directing student interns and volunteers.
Attend staff and divisional meetings regularly.
Serve on department, divisional and institutional committees and work groups.
Participate in professional development programs.
Actively research and apply for grant funding opportunities that support or expand services and initiatives.

Assistant Director:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Wellness Promotion, this full-time, twelve-month position is responsible for coordinating and implementing universal, selected, and indicated strategies to address alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use on campus. This position includes developing programs, awareness campaigns, and environmental strategies that assist in modifying, evolving, and developing the campus-wide approach to ATOD use; use assessment tools, social marketing, and benchmarking of best practices in the field of prevention and harm reduction to meet ATOD needs. The Assistant Director will collaborate with key campus constituents to help develop, recommend, and implement educational sanctions and interventions for students found in violation of university ATOD policies. The Assistant Director will also serve as the departmental representative on campus and community coalitions/work groups focusing on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
 
The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director are:

Coordinate, Develop, Implement and Assess Campus Wellness Initiatives:
Plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based wellness promotion programming, with primary focus on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
Collaborate with department to use evidence-based practices to develop, implement and assess campus-wide wellness promotion initiatives/awareness campaigns.
Coordinate development, implementation and evaluation of an ATOD strategic plan that is derived from best practices and evidence informed initiatives.
Provide individual student assistance with personal health issues through Wellness Consultations and make appropriate referrals when indicated.
Coordinate data collection needed for wellness and ATOD program planning and assessment.
Chair campus ATOD work group(s).
Collaborate with university personnel and departments involved with ATOD initiatives.
Develop and implement program policies and procedures according to state and federal regulations and requirements, including maintaining compliance with the Drug Free Schools Act.
Actively participate in meetings and initiatives of the PA State System of Higher Education Alcohol Coalition.
Develop and deliver development programs for staff, faculty, and student workers.

Oversee and administer ATOD brief individual screening and feedback sessions:
Provide BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students or Balancing Alcohol and Substances to Improve College Success) for students self-referred or referred via the university conduct system.
Provide oversight and training to paraprofessional and professional staff administering BASICS.
Maintain BASICS program implementation statistics and manage ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness.
 
General Duties that support above:

Job Requirements

Associate Director:
Minimum Qualifications
Three years post graduate experience directly related to health education/promotion in a higher education setting.
Master's Degree in higher education, social work, public health, or other related field.
Demonstrated experience supervising and training undergraduate and graduate student employees.
Knowledge of research and promising practices in college health promotion.
Experience with assessment of learning.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion, and an ability to work with diverse populations.
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
At least five years post graduate experience directly related to health education/promotion in a higher education setting.
Experience collaborating with academic affairs and other campus departments.
Experience using technology to convey health information and engage individuals in health promotion programming.
Experience coordinating collegiate peer education programs.

Assistant Director:
Minimum Qualifications
At least two years' experience directly relating to health education/promotion in a higher education setting.
Master's Degree in higher education, social work, public health, or other related field.
Knowledge of research and promising practices in college health promotion with specific focus on alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.
Experience with facilitating BASICS and/or Motivational Interviewing style sessions.Experience with assessment of learning.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion, and an ability to work with diverse populations.
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing programs and supporting individuals in recovery in collegiate settings.
Experience with Maxient and PeopleSoft systems.
