Position Description

Assoc Dir, Center for Student Involvement & Leadership - Requisition# 19000288

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide leadership for the staff, students, volunteers, programs and services of the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership (CSIL). In collaboration with colleagues across campus, prepare students to succeed academically, professionally and personally, to embrace a commitment to lifelong learning, and to become informed, engaged, and productive citizens.  

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, lead, and administer programs, focusing on expanding and supporting engagement and leadership initiatives; provide a comprehensive delivery of programs and services to the students integrating the mission of the University Wyoming and the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership; and encourage campus involvement and leadership opportunities. 
  • Administer the financial, programmatic and personnel functions of designated areas within the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership including: recognized student organizations, student programming board, fraternity & sorority life, and student media.  
  • Navigate, interpret, and propose changes to University Regulations that pertain to recognized student organizations, student programming board, fraternity & sororities, and student media.  
  • Administer human resource functions for designated areas within CSIL, including supervision, training, development of full-time staff. Oversee compliance with university, state and federal regulations and employment practices.
  • Direct, coordinate, or supervise major programming initiatives for the University; negotiate and monitor contracts; create and implement services to enhance the development and success of students; 
  • Participate in CSIL and Wyoming Union policy development or revision, strategic planning, and decision-making; coordinate the development and operation of designated areas; develop operating plans and procedures for designated areas.
  • Act in an authority capacity in the absence of the Director.

Job Requirements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:  Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher EducationAdministration, or human behavior related field;
  • Experience:  4 years work-related experience fulltime positions in higher education areas such as student affairs, student services, or relevant areas of academic affairs;
  • Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: Valid Driver's License with a motor vehicle record that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy Found at: http://www.uwyo.edu/auxserv/car-rental-services/official-vehicle-policy/ovp.pdf. 
  • Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Functional area experience in Campus Activities, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Unions, or Student Media / Publications.
  • Two years experience supervising full-time staff.
