Associate Director, Director of Career Discovery
'68 Center for Career Exploration

The college seeks an enthusiastic career services professional to serve as the Associate Director, Director of Career Discovery in the '68 Center for Career Exploration. The Associate Director, Director will develop and implement the '68 Center's Career Discovery curriculum to help undergraduates explore their career options, including career advising, exploration programs and other activities related to successfully “transitioning and launching” first and second-year students.

Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director, Director will serve in a leadership role supporting the many functions of the '68 Center for Career Exploration in the Office of College Relations. They will also create and implement innovative Education & Teaching exploration programs, including but not limited to Career Treks, How'd You Get There, Coffee Chats, alumni panels, graduate school prep, and job shadowing. The broad scope of this position aligns closely with the overall mission of the '68 Center as well as those of its strategic campus partners.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and Deliver Career Discovery program using needs assessment and best practices
  • Provide Self-Discovery appointments and group sessions
  • Research, evaluate and create a “transition to college” career exploration process that is inclusive of a wide range of student backgrounds and interests. Incorporates student developmental theory and self-assessment tools
  • Proactively partner with faculty and departments such as the Dean's Office and the Center for Learning in Action in creating a holistic advising approach
  • Work closely with the Director and regularly accesses the Discovery program utilization/impact and provides semester-end metrics
  • Create and implement Education & Teaching Career Community, while supporting other career communities
  • Connect with and attend Education Student Organization and departmental events
  • Serve on various Education related internship selection committees
  • Cover weekly Quick Questions and various team meetings
  • Serve as liaison to International Students
  • Supervise professional staff and student staff
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed


It is preferred that candidates for the position hold a Master's degree with 5 - 8 years' experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with student advising and program management is essential. Certification to administer and interpret appropriate career assessment inventories (e.g., Clifton StrengthsFinder, Value Sorts, Skill Scan, Strong Interest Inventory, or Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) is desired. Exceptionally strong public speaking, relationship building, networking, teamwork, writing, and organizational skills are essential.
