Associate Director of Cultural Engagement and Inclusion
With the recent creation of the Center for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion, Muskingum University is eager to welcome its first Associate Director of Cultural Engagement and Inclusion. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion, the Associate Director will support Muskingum's commitment to inclusive excellence by coordinating and providing programming to the campus community. The Associate Director will be a critical partner and ally to those with a variety of identities and life experiences, such as race/ethnicity, socio-economic status, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. This is a full-time, 11-month position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate the design and implementation of heritage, diversity, equity, and inclusion programming with a focus on educating and celebrating the campus community.
• Work closely with a diversity student advising group to implement programming that meets student needs and priorities.
• Provide diversity and inclusivity resources and consultations to leaders of student clubs and organizations.
• Serve as chairperson of a campus-wide inclusion and diversity education advisory committee that assists with needs assessment, planning and evaluation of educational, cultural, and social programs that foster awareness and appreciation of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Collaborate with academics, student life, athletics, and other key departments to create and deliver professional development around issues of diversity and equity, and to build inclusive student engagement through educational, social, and leadership-based programming.
• Collaborate with campus partners to ensure a strong, campus-wide network of support for the recruitment and retention of diverse students.
• Coordinate international student support services and international student programming, such as orientation, off-campus excursions, and the International Dinner.
• Maintain documentation of programming, develop and utilize metrics and tools to assess success of program activities.
• In collaboration with the Office of Human Relations & Risk Management, participate in the University's response plan for bias-related incidents, including accepting and communicating reports, advocating for those impacted by the event, and, where appropriate, providing educational support or assistance to restore the community.
• Maintain the DEI website, providing timely and educational content that promotes diversity and social justice.
• Serve as an academic coach.
• Participate on University committees, such as the Academic Concerns Team.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Master's degree in college student development or related area highly preferred; Bachelor's degree with significant professional experience in higher education acceptable.
• At least 3 years' experience developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion programming.
• Demonstrated competency working with individuals from a wide array of identities and life experiences.
• Ability to establish and maintain productive and meaningful relationships with members of the campus community and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives while engaging stakeholders who may have a variety of ideas and needs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to inspire and influence others, across multiple groups and settings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including being an active listener and facilitator.
• Strong organizational skills in order to manage concurrent projects with a high level of detail.
• Ability to maintain discretion and privacy.
• Knowledge of and appreciation for the ideals and unique qualities of a residential, liberal arts university preferred.
• Experience advising or supporting student success preferred.
