POSITION: Associate Director, Employer Engagement

SALARY RANGE: $65,000-$70,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience

Division of Student Life Summary

The Division of Student Life supports the university’s academic mission through comprehensive programs and services that promote and advance student learning and success, while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community. Student Life houses four departments, the University Career Readiness Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Erb Memorial Union, and the Department of Physical Education & Recreation, as well as a number of key university programs, including the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Parent and Family Programs, Major Student Events (Commencement, Homecoming, University Day), Student Government Engagement & Success, Student Conduct and Community Standards, and Support for Students in Crisis and Students of Concern.

Department Summary

The University Career Center helps students as they prepare for the world of work and success upon graduation. Through career education and preparation, as well as networking, community building, and connecting students to experiential and employment opportunities, the University Career Center serves as catalyst and incubator that helps transform aspirations into reality. 

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Employer Engagement is responsible for developing and operationalizing a cohesive strategy to significantly expand and foster employer relationships with the UO and provide an increasingly diverse array of meaningful connections for students with employers that contribute to the post-degree employment success of UO graduates. This position will represent the University Career Center through meetings, collaborations, presentations, and speaking engagements with employers, students, and other stakeholders on behalf of the Career Center. Additional responsibilities will include leading employer engagement assessment efforts, data compilation, and analysis to identify and report job market trends, outreach outcomes, impact on student opportunities for internships and full-time employment, and net increase in employer relationships across each industry.

Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a key member of the University Career Center leadership team, the person in this role must be an innovative leader positioned to provide strategic direction and management of all employer outreach efforts. This individual leads a team of dedicated employer engagement professionals.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree
• Four years of related experience in recruitment/human resources, sales/marketing, corporate program development, career services, higher education, or other related field
• Four years of supervisory experience of dynamic staff

Professional Competencies
• Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment
• Knowledge of employers and industry, job search strategies, job market trends, Employer Engagement, contemporary recruitment practices, and/or trends in career services
• Demonstrated track record of success in partnering and developing successful long-term client relationships.
• Highly developed skills in team-based management and professional staff supervision
• Visionary mindset and demonstrated strategic and innovative approach to problem-solving.
• Experience with and demonstrated skills in public speaking
• Demonstrated competency to assess, organize and prioritize multiple initiatives and tasks with a strategic lens and attention to detail
• Ability to analyze data, run reports, and share assessment results
• Experience with career- and workforce-related technology needs
• Eligibility to drive university vehicles
• Ability to travel and work non-standard hours, including some nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of best practices in career development and an understanding of the principles of student development
• Previous fundraising or employer engagement experience
