The Associate Director, Housing and Dining Facilities functions as a Senior Level Manager reporting to the Director of Housing Facilities and will serve as Director when needed. The Associate Director of Facilities shares the responsibility for the overall delivery of all services performed by HD Facilities. This position will require strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and excellent communication abilities. The Associate Director will be responsible for establishing the strategic direction, and long range plans for capital improvements and capital projects. Accordingly the Associate Director will be responsible for the overall management of all major and minor construction, all project related tasks, and the management and coordination for all Housing and Dining projects. This position will work collaboratively with HDS customers, contractors, and other CSU departments in order to meet customer needs and goals.
The Associate Director will exercise management responsibilities over Housing and Dining Facility Planning, Project Management, Capital Projects, Small Projects, and Access Control. This will include the administration, oversight, management and fiscal accountability for all related personnel and activities, and will assure compliance with all CSU requirements. The position will develop and utilize construction and building standards for Housing and Dining Services in an effort to execute projects expediently and with cost efficiency, and with consistency. This position will play an integral role in determining future projects within HDS since the position will also develop and maintain an accurate deferred maintenance database and facility condition index file.
The Associate Director will be responsible for the strategic development and management of the HD Facilities Access Control department. The position will work closely with associated CSU departments in order to integrate, develop, and parallel, HDS access policies, processes, procedures, and technologies, making sure these are aligned with the greater CSU campus.


Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Project/Construction Management, Sciences, Liberal Arts, or closely related field.
• Five years of progressive experience in the management of residential or commercial facility; ability to manage all aspects of a living learning facility and responsibility in managing and working within trades.
• Three years of managing, supervising medium to large capital projects and/or renovation projects
• Five years of direct management of staff with demonstrated ability to manage personnel, budgets, oversee daily operations, and varied specialized projects.

Perfered Qualifications

• Advanced Degree and/or Certification in Project Management
• Experience within higher education
• Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable practices and processes
• Facilitation and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrates strong computer skills, proficiently in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Acrobat, and building operations software.
• Understanding of “Learning Organization” and application of such.
• Demonstrates an understanding of maintenance methodologies and scheduling of planned work.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to implement programs relating to long term solutions and strategies in addressing deferred maintenance concerns.
