Position Description

The Associate Director of Student Activities is a student-centered educator that supports the co-curricular experience of our students and student leaders. The Associate Director will advise major student-directed organizations that govern the student activity fee’s usage, and will supervise key student-directed spaces (a café and pub). Through developing and maintaining a more robust club and organization program, the Associate Director will contribute to the growth and leadership development of student leaders and their advisors. This collaborative administrator will work closely alongside students, student leaders, other members of the Division of Student Affairs, and campus partners.


Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise and Advise Students

- Serve as the formal advisor to the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Student Publications and Radio Committee (SPARC).
- Supervise the managers of Bob’s Underground Café and Lyle’s Pub (and indirectly supervise other student employees).
- Develop and advise a programming board, and originate community-building programs for students, to complement the programs offered by Student Government Association.

Support Student Organizations

- Create and maintain a club and organization program, including centralizing event-planning resources (calendar, reservations, event planning instructions, alcohol agreements, travel policies, funding protocols, etc.) and partnering with SGA on a regular review of the list of organizations.
- Provide leadership training opportunities for students and organizations (general leadership, running effective meetings, prioritizing goals, conflict management, organization transition strategies, budgeting, etc.)
- Serve as an advisor to various student organizations.
- Recommend and implement a faculty and staff advising program, including training and resources for pre-existing and future advisors.
