Position Description

Muskingum University is seeking a dynamic leader who can help achieve the vision of an integrated educational experience for all students bridging academic and student affairs.   Working closely with, and reporting to the Provost, the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs will provide strategic management of all aspects of the Student Affairs Division.  Core responsibilities include the recruitment and supervision of Student Affairs Directors in carrying out their duties, while inspiring their growth and increased impact on students.  Functional areas within student affairs at Muskingum University include residence life, judicial and Title IX operations, student governance, diversity, access and inclusion, intramurals and student activities, counseling and health and wellness services, and student life chaplaincy.  The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with academic, athletics, admissions and other offices to create an intentional learning community that supports Muskingum University’s institution-wide student learning outcomes and commitment to inclusive excellence.


Job Requirements

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

Doctoral degree in counseling, student personnel, higher education administration, or related field preferred; master’s degree is required.
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Student Affairs leadership roles
Excellent written and verbal skills
Creativity, flexibility, persistence, and humor
Demonstrated ability to engage students and motivate them to strive for growth
Passion for supporting undergraduate education in a liberal arts institution
Evidence of strong and respectful collaborative working relationship with other administrators, faculty, staff, and community members
Significant experience in program development and evaluation, staff supervision, and strategic planning
Skilled in the use of data-based decision-making models and experienced in assessment of student outcomes from co-curricular learning opportunities
Fluent with office software and data analysis tools
Weekend and evening work are vital to the success of this position
