Position Description

The Case Manager for Disability and Intervention Services provides disability services, including academic, career, and transfer advising to students with disabilities.  The position provides ongoing, intrusive assistance, advocacy, and support to address the needs of students with a broad range of concerns, such as behavioral and/or psychological challenges, social or adjustment problems, academic-related challenges, or financial issues.  The Case Manager implements and oversees a peer-based intervention program.  This position does not provide therapeutic counseling.

Duties include, but are not limited to, meeting one-on-one with students; collaborating with faculty, staff, campus departments, and community agencies; determining student eligibility for services; assisting students in self-monitoring and self-determination; communicating information; serving as a member of the Student Intervention and Prevention team as well as the Care team; and providing training for the campus community regarding disability awareness, universal design, and student intervention strategies.  The Case Manager for Disability and Student Intervention Services is responsible for staying current in professional knowledge, techniques, technologies, and skills, and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

This is an exempt, professional staff position reporting to the Director for Disability and Student Intervention Services.


Job Requirements

A master's degree in counseling, social work, clinical or counseling psychology, or related field and three to five years of related experience are required.  Advanced skills in a Windows-based computer environment and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools are required.  Experience using a Student Information Management System and disability and/or case management software is preferred. 

 Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to:

Experience working in disability services, evaluating documentation, determining accommodations, and promoting universal design and/or accessible technologies

Experience providing case management services

Experience providing crisis intervention

Experience working in higher education providing academic, career, and transfer advising

Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse cultural, disability, ethnic, and/or underrepresented college student populations

Knowledge of relevant disability and accessibility laws and promising practices

Applicants must have excellent communication skills; supervisory experience is preferred.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) is also preferred.
