Emporia State University’s department of Residential Life is seeking applicants for a Complex Coordinator position. This year-round, live-in position includes some evening and weekend duties and on-call responsibilities that are shared among professional staff. The Complex Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Director for Residential Life.
General Statement of Duties:
The Complex Coordinator (CC) is responsible for initiating, implementing, maintaining and assessing initiatives and operations in a residential complex. Programs and operations should foster learning and developmental opportunities for an individual student and an entire community. In addition to fulfilling department and division responsibilities, the CC will serve the University through special projects and committee work. As a professional member of Residential Life, the Complex Coordinator will work to advance the mission, vision and values of the department. The CC must have the ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment and establish positive relationships with campus colleagues.
Complex Coordinators provide leadership for management of a residential community, including developmentally-focused training and supervision of a Senior Resident Assistant, Resident Assistants, Reception Center staff and hall activities councils. The CC will contribute to the success and development of residents through the implementation of departmental initiatives, being present at activities and events, providing mediation and referrals, managing building operations, facilitating room changes, adjudicating conduct cases and fulfilling other duties as assigned. The CC will also collaborate with professional staff to oversee housing operations for summer camps and conferences. Complex Coordinators must understand and be sensitive to social and multicultural issues and work to create a diverse and inclusive environment.
This position requires a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Counselor Education or a related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective problem-solving ability, supervisory experience, management strategies, communication and listening skills, and the ability to educate and develop college students in a residential environment. Preferred qualifications include experience with assessment and social justice.
The Complex Coordinator salary is $40,000 and provides full benefits (medical, dental, vision, retirement, etc.). Compensation includes declining balance funds for use in campus dining venues.
