Carnegie Mellon University Qatar (CMU-Q) department of Student Affairs is searching for an engaged, energetic and collaborative Coordinator for International Student Services to join our dynamic team in Doha, Qatar.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of professionals in a department whose importance is underscored by the tremendous investment of university resources in its programs and staff as well as an unwavering commitment to supporting and serving our multi-cultural student population.  

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Coordination of all stages of the immigration and visa process for incoming/returning international students;
  • Facilitation of student campus exchange programs and global study abroad programs;
  • Serving as the liaison to Qatar Foundation’s Student Housing and Residence Life team;
  • Presenting information such as at pre-departure and informational programs workshops about the campus exchange process and deadlines;
  • Advising students on issues related to housing, financial aid, campus resources, and the international adjustment process;
  • Liaising with the enrollment services, financial aid manager, and the administrator for academic programs to support global study initiatives; and
  • Effectively working with a larger international student advising team and collaborate across all campuses.

You will be expected to nurture an intentional, positive, student centered experience and provide timely communication to students. You will be successful in this role if you are an energetic, friendly, outgoing, creative, and flexible individual who can work in a busy and dynamic office with a diverse international population.

In addition, in this fast-paced and highly collaborative environment, we will expect you to:

  • Exhibit the experience and capability to develop and manage cutting-edge, dynamic, and engaging student programs;
  • Able to plan and execute seamless events, seminars, and workshops as well as demonstrate the ability to handle VIP and other special arrangements/coordination;
  • Well-developed organizational skills and a keen attention to detail;
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to write clear and accurate reports and other business correspondence to audiences where English may be a second language;
  • Advanced computer and database management skills. Including, knowledge of database systems, Microsoft Office Suite (including use of formulas in Excel, creating semi-complex presentations and creating a simple database in Access) and other computer-related concepts/systems;
  • Possess a strong student development orientation including astute communication skills in a multi-cultural environment with the ability to accurately and professionally respond to questions and inquiries; and
  • Ability to provide thorough and systematic office coverage during regular business hours.

You should be able to travel both domestically and internationally and be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.

This position is for a three (3) year contract with the potential for renewal.

Job Requirements

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in relevant educational discipline required;
  • Minimum three years of experience in study abroad and/or international student advising required;
  • Marketing, design, and social media experience helpful; and
  • Fluency in Arabic or ability to rapidly acquire basic proficiency in Arabic (speaking, reading, and writing) upon hire preferred.
