Position Description

The Coordinator for Residence Education (CRE) is an integral component to the success of the Residence Education area for University Housing. The CRE is responsible for creating a community where academics, diversity, and community involvement are honored.  The CRE facilitates an environment within the residence hall that contributes to the development of students and staff academically, socially, physically and culturally.

Additionally, the CRE provides leadership for the day to day management of the hall or complex to create a safe, clean and comfortable environment for students and staff. The CRE articulates to students the philosophy and policies of University Housing, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University while representing and presenting the needs of the students to the administration. The CRE role is one of leadership, trust, and honor, and contributes significantly to the personal growth and development of his/her staff members and hall residents.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a major in sociology, public administration, or related field; plus two years of experience in program administration or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a directly related field of study from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Graduate and/or full-time experience with community living and leadership development
  • At least three years of experience in program administration or related area

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs.
  • Knowledge of campus and community resources.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to campus academic and social programs.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs.
  • Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations.
  • Ability to compile information into report form.
