Coordinator for Student Engagement

The Coordinator for Student Engagement is responsible for fostering an environment conducive to both personal and professional growth for students, and achieving the objectives of a successful University Housing program that connects to the academic mission of CSU. This position oversees the programmatic aspects of a comprehensive student engagement and student leadership program for residential communities. Primary responsibilities include: coordinating and implementing a student engagement and student leadership program, advising student and residential organizations, including advising Residence Hall Association and National Residence Hall Honorary; providing leadership for fostering and supporting inclusive residential communities; and serves as a liaison to campus partners related to student engagement and leadership. The Coordinator will carry out their responsibilities under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Inclusion and Student Engagement.
The selected candidate will be well-organized and able to work well under pressure with multiple and consistently changing deadlines. To be successful in the position, the Coordinator must have excellent interpersonal communication, organization, administrative skills and demonstrated experience with taking initiative. In addition, the Coordinator will need a strong ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with multiple constituents including campus offices, students, staff, faculty members and various other community groups.
In addition, experience working with diverse individuals such as non-traditional aged, religiously diverse, gender, international, people with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender, and persons of color is essential to be effective in the Coordinator position.
Required Job Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education or related field
• 2 years of full time experience in Student Affairs and/or housing
• Supervision of various levels of staff (i.e. paraprofessional, graduate, etc)
• Experience advising student organizations
• Experience working with people from a broad diversity of backgrounds
Preferred Job Qualifications
• Experience with analyzing and resolving conflict, team building, group dynamics
• Demonstrated ability for problem solving
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships
• Experience with managing budgets and fiscal processes
• Experience with residential communities in college/university setting
