Position Description

The Coordinator of Facilities Management directly supervises the maintenance and custodial supervisors and staff for the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The Coordinator will also oversee contract work and projects. The position will assist in the design, development, and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Directly supervises the maintenance and custodial supervisors and staff. 
  • Responsible for daily cleaning and upkeep of housing facilities. Schedules maintenance and custodial duties and conduct routine inspections of all work being performed.
  • Conducts and/or participates in training and development for custodial and maintenance staff.
  • Develops Summer maintenance and cleaning programs that inspects all rooms and allows time for routine maintenance and cleaning prior to student move-in.
  • Responsible for the asset management process for residential facilities to include furniture and equipment inventories.
  • May serve as the project manager for minor Housing projects.
  • Manages the maintenance and custodial request process for the campus residential facilities and serves as the Facilities Management Liaison.
  • Will assist the Assistant Director of Facilities with the planning, development, and implementation of renovations, construction, and purchasing projects for the department.
  • Oversees event set-up and take down for multi-purpose rooms, outdoor recreation areas, theme lounges or other venues deemed appropriate for such events.
  • Oversees all audio-visual systems and needs within the facility including, but not limited to, High Definition TVs, satellite/cable television equipment, laptop/desktop computer, LCD projectors, audio-visual carts, CCTV and facility sound system.
  • Conducts daily visual inspections of all common space within the facility including, but not limited to, facility entrances, elevators, multi-purpose space, recreational fields, leisure areas, pools and pool deck, game room, guest rooms, fitness rooms, common area bathrooms and staff office spaces.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Facilities to ensure all facility maintenance and custodial needs are addressed including: maintenance services, custodial services, pool maintenance and landscape maintenance.
  • Assists with Summer Conference Program and formulates reports as required by the Assistant Director of Facilities Management.

This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.


Job Requirements

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and two years of experience directly related to the job functions.

Preference given to applicants who meet the required qualifications and also possess the following:
Previous experience in directing facilities personnel is preferred. Position requires independent decision making and professional judgment. Successful candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills.

This position may have on-call responsibility and will be expected to respond quickly to emergency situations related to Housing (i.e., must be able to respond to situations on-campus in a timely manner). Response to campus may not exceed 30 minutes. Off campus travel may be required. The incumbent must be available to respond to emergency calls at all times (evenings and weekends).

Must be able to physically ascend stairways to gain access to all areas of the facility. Ability to understand University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate information effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus. Ability to push, lift, or move loads of at least 35 pounds (trash, cleaning carts, buffers, scrubbers, cleaning supplies). Ability to carry, erect, climb and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds. Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges between interior and exterior of the buildings. Visual ability, corrected, to observe dangerous situations in the work area (such as wet floors) in order to redirect people to avoid injuries.

Background Check: This position requires a level II background check, which includes fingerprinting. In conjunction with the University’s policy, this position may also require a credit check.

Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator.

Requires a valid Florida Driver’s License and access to a personal automobile.
