Position Description

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Office of Student Life seeks an individual to serve as Coordinator for Student Organization Development.  Reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Life, the incumbent creates opportunities and coordinates programs that promote student involvement and leadership. Specific duties include:  develops and implements creative strategies for supporting student organization development and success, expanding membership in student organizations, helping organizations identify opportunities to work together, and building effective relationships with organization advisors; serves as a front-line advisor to student organization members looking to plan events; evaluates and assesses student involvement trends and outcomes on campus; supervises the Involvement Peers in the Student Involvement Center; assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Office of Student Life program that empowers students, provides leadership experiences, builds community, and enhances academic endeavors; and performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

This position requires Master’s degree in higher education or related field. Preferred qualifications:  One year experience in higher education/student life related area; strong knowledge and experience with student activities/event planning; displayed knowledge of college student development principles; demonstrated commitment to meeting the needs of diverse student populations and student organizations; ability to interact effectively with broad campus constituents and partners; strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational and time management abilities; comfort with high-paced, dynamic work environment and strong team player mentality; and excellent customer service skills.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Position is full-time and includes full university benefits package.
