Xavier University of Louisiana invites applications for the position of Residence Hall Director. The Residence Hall Director reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life will be an integral participant on the Division of Student Services leadership team. The Director provides strategic direction and leadership for staff and residents of the Hall. The Residence Hall Director is a full-time, professional, 12 month position, with a primary responsibility for the students and operation of a hall housing up to over 500 residents. The position requires the use of sound judgment to provide direction and support in the form of guidance for the Resident Assistant staff and their programs, crisis management and policy enforcement, and building maintenance. Duties include direct supervision of 4-6 paraprofessional staff, 24-hour desk operation with approximately 6-8 student staff. The Director has the option to live onsite in Director’s one bedroom suite.
A Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree is desired in student personnel, higher educational administration, or related field. Minimum of 3 to 5 years full-time progressive experience in management of professional, support and student staff; broad knowledge and practice of student development theory, current issues and trends; planning, communication and team-building skills, conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously required. Candidate must enjoy working with students, their families, community members and practitioners, faculty and staff and available to work evenings and weekends to monitor campus programs and community projects.
