General Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director of Gender Equity will have the primary responsibility to serve as the University Title IX Coordinator and coordinate the university’s compliance with federal, state and local laws addressing discrimination and harassment based on sex. The Director of Gender Equity oversees all complaints and reports of discrimination and harassment based on sex; sexual and relationship violence, stalking and sexual misconduct that impact the working, living or educational environment of members of the university community. The position is also responsible for education, training, prevention, and outreach efforts to various campus constituencies including students, staff, and faculty.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Serve as DePaul University’s Title IX Coordinator. 
    • Oversee and coordinate prompt, effective and equitable response to reports of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual and relationship violence and related complaints, including investigation, interim measures and remedies and case resolution.
    • Coordinate the implementation of interim measures and remedies with the Deputy Title IX Coordinators.
    • Develop and implement a case management plan for each reported incident, and an investigative plan for each reported incident.
  • Supervise the Title IX Investigator and graduate intern, and assist with more complex investigations to ensure timely resolution of assigned reports of sex discrimination, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual and relationship violence and stalking. 
  • Work collaboratively with Deputy Title IX Coordinators and other campus partners to include the following offices: General Counsel, Student Affairs, Human Resources, Compliance, Athletics, Academic Affairs, and Enrollment Management & Marketing. 
    • Provide and coordinate ongoing training, consultation, and technical assistance for all faculty and staff and students regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX, sexual misconduct, reporting options, grievance procedures, applicable disciplinary code, confidential sources, and support services. 
    • Assist with the development, implementation and review of policies and procedures as they relate to, sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual and relationship violence to ensure compliance with local, state and federal law.
    • Update, maintain and distribute informational materials (web page, print materials) regarding sexual harassment, sexual and relationship violence, and sexual misconduct. 
  • Ensure the collection, analysis, the development of comprehensive reports, and the maintenance of investigative records to fulfill governmental reporting responsibilities and appropriate internal reports.
  • Attend training and education programs to meet mandated training requirements and remain current on federal, state, and local laws, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Education & Experience

  • Juris Doctor or Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Student Affairs, Human Resources, or Compliance.
  • Prior experience with Title IX, including managing compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Must have investigatory experience, including complaint resolution.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Title IX Investigator and Graduate Intern.
