Position Description

Description
 Job Purpose: Provide focused leadership for health promotion programs aligned with the overall strategy for The Center for Community Health and Well-Being (CCHWB). Oversee planning and implementation for student learning and health behavior. Identify areas of concern and develop appropriate support services which will respond to student needs. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

Major Responsibilities:

Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of theory-based and evidence-informed health promotion strategies, policies, programs and services for Health Promotion.
Responsible for development, customization and strategic direction for health promotion services and resources, including topic focused events and sessions across the Institute.
Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate professional, support and student staff/ volunteer for Health Promotion.
Develop plans, goals, and measurable objectives for Health Promotion.
Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to health for students; Integrate with Health Initiatives, HWB, and campus partners to develop collaborative programming for a healthy campus community.
Lead the creation of a campus-wide prevention plan that establishes a supportive environment for student success and health behavior through the development and application of population-level initiatives including prevention activities and health assessments for the areas of physical and social well-being.
Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of staff, management and coordination of strategies, budget, policies, programs and resources that result in student learning and health behavior on individual and community levels within Health Promotion.
Manage all Human Resources activities within Health Promotion.
Perform other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Education: Master's Degree in public health, health promotion, health policy, or health education or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience: Five to seven years related health promotion work experience, preferably in a college or university setting
Certifications: Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
Skills: This job requires: Computer skills to include email and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of the ACHA Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education. Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion, behavior changes, and population-based theories, evidence-based health promotion programs/initiatives, environmental management strategies/ecological model, student development theories and models. Demonstrated skills in supervision, budget/fiscal management, and policy change activities and strategies; Effective written/oral/interpersonal communication skills, quantitative and qualitative research skills. Skill in conducting program evaluations, interpreting findings and developing plans to programmatically and strategically respond to evaluation data.
