Position Description

Director of Housing and Residence Life, Student Services Manager I, Salary Range: $48,572 to $56,947 (salary commensurate with experience), University of South Carolina Aiken  

USCA seeks a Director of Housing and Residence Life to provide overall leadership for the housing and residence life program including the supervision of one Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life, three Assistant Directors of Housing and Residence Life, the Business Manager of Housing and Residence Life, as well as over 50 student employees. Supervises program development and evaluation; recommends and implements policies and procedures; and works with staff to ensure a living/learning environment that enhances student growth and development is provided to residents.  The Director will work with the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life to ensure the recruitment and retention of USC Aiken students in our residence life program through marketing as well as creative housing options such as theme housing, Greek housing, etc., and will also work with the Admissions Office to coordinate housing services for incoming students.  The Director will be responsible for developing a summer occupancy plan for the facility.  The Director will provide overall fiscal management of three different self-supporting facilities which house 968 residents totaling 280,206 square feet, parking lots, pool, and grounds. In conjunction with the Senior University Facilities Director, the Director of Housing and Residence Life will develop and implement long and short range facilities upgrade and development plans, as well as any housekeeping or maintenance issues.  The Director will prepare and maintain operating budgets totaling over $4 million for the Department of Housing and Residential Life.  In conjunction with the offices of Business Services, Financial Aid, and Purchasing, the Director will develop appropriate financial accounting systems, manage a self-supporting budget, and determine the needs for major and minor renovations to the existing facility.   The Director will work closely with the Chief Non-Academic Student Conduct Officer to administer discipline as well as work closely with University Police to ensure the appropriate safety and security of all residents.  The Director will serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team as well as be a senior member of the Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Services staff.  Application Requirement: Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services or related field and 5 years housing/residence life experience, OR bachelor's degree and 7 years housing/residence life experience.  Some evening and weekend work required.  Deadline to apply:  January 31, 2019.  Apply online at: https://uscjobs.sc.edu/postings/45903.
