Position Description

Central Washington University is pleased to announce the search for our Director of Housing Operations and Marketing. Please share with your network about this exciting opportunity to be a part of our team at Central Washington University (CWU) in Ellensburg, Washington.

The Director of Housing Operations and Marketing is responsible for leading the Housing Services and Marketing office of the Housing and Residence Life department.  This position will have oversight of the on-campus housing occupancy in university-owned residence halls and apartments, long-range occupancy forecasting, strategic planning and implementation in consultation with the Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life. This includes supervision of Housing Services professional and student staff including assignments, billing and marketing staff aligned with Housing and Residence Life’s culture of service.  The Director will also provide vision and oversight for all communication and marketing efforts for Housing and Residence Life. The Director has indirect oversight over Information Technology Systems Specialist and student technology staff. This position works closely with Admissions, Student Financial Services, International Programs, Auxiliary/Dining Services and Disability Services.

Salary: $55,000-$62,000 annually, live-off position, with excellent benefits, generous leave, and a supportive and growing department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years of professional experience in Housing Operations and Residence Life including but not limited to occupancy management, assignments, conference services, billing, and/or communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including oral and written communication.
  • Experience that illustrates an understanding of multicultural issues and the ability to foster communities that support diversity.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology including analysis on MS Excel, databases, mobile technology
  • Supervision and/or leadership of staff
  • OR any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration or other related field.
  • Experience designing and implementing communication plans including crisis response, public relations, and marketing.
  • Program coordination or project management experience
  • Presentation and/or training experience to a large variety of audiences
  • Experience administering housing management databases; Adirondack- The Housing Director preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and/or oversight of student billing
