Position Description
The Director of Residential Education is charged with providing support to the academic mission of the university by contributing to students’ out-of-classroom learning. The incumbent oversees a residential community of about 6,000 students, three full-time Associate Directors, 32 full-time professional and graduate student staff, and 315 student positions, and is responsible for the effective implementation of the residential curriculum, collaboration with Academic Affairs on Living Learning Communities, and works with other departments as necessary to maintain a learning-infused living environment that promotes student success.

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in higher education or related field plus 5 years of progressively responsible leadership, management, and supervisory experience within residence life required. Demonstrated record of strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills necessary. Must have demonstrated ability to create partnerships and work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and other members of the community. Record of successful building and leading teams as well as managing large teams of diverse employees essential. Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student populations required. Exceptional written communication and organization skills as evidenced by application materials required.
Preferred Requirements: Earned PhD in higher education administration, college student development or related field preferred. Prior experience in leadership roles at a large, public university desirable. Experience working with or implementing a residential curriculum model helpful. Prefer knowledge of risk assessment principles and the ability to evaluate risks and likely consequences. Knowledge of student development theory preferred. Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic and administrative colleagues to facilitate student success desirable.
