Director of Residential Life & Housing
The Director of Residential Life and Housing is responsible for providing visionary leadership for engaged student learning and living experiences throughout the University's residential programs with the ultimate goal of assisting in UMSL's goal of increasing retention and graduation. The director is responsible for the overall administration, operation, and supervision of the residential life and housing program. The director establishes department goals and provides leadership in developing programmatic ways to achieve them. The director will be expected to enhance the department's impact on student learning; expand connections with faculty and academic partners; and lead departmental assessment and strategic planning efforts.
The Department of Residential Life and Housing at UMSL has a total occupancy of 775 across several facility types including suites, single occupancy, and apartment-style. The department has a robust conference and events operation hosting 15-20 summer residential conferences/camps each summer, 45 weddings annually in the campus chapel, and 85 summer interns.
The Director oversees 2 assistant directors, 2 resident directors, 3 assistant resident directors (students), residential custodial staff and approximately 55 student staff members. The director works closely with facilities management to provide coordinated direction to four dedicated maintenance employees and the custodial supervisor. The department has an overall operating budget of approximately $6.0M. The Director of Residential Life and Housing reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Students—Campus Life.

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
