Position Description

The Student Experience Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking applications for a Director (R99821). The Director is responsible for the delivery of campus life programs that foster leadership development through student engagement and growth opportunities that enhance student success.  The position hires and supervises professional staff and maintains a budget in excess of $500,000. This position reports to the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job duties and responsibilities include delivering leadership development opportunities for a diverse student population; overseeing program development with focus on strengthened sense of campus community and connection to the university for students, faculty, staff, and outside community; interpreting university policies, rules and regulations for registered student organizations, their advisors, faculty, staff, administrators and Student Experience Center staff; working across academic and administrative units across campus in the delivery of campus programs; setting budgets for campus programs, student activity fee allocation, and special celebrations and events; providing direct advisement to Student Government Association and serving as liaison for faculty, staff, and administration in collection with the same; designing and implementing leadership development conferences and related experiences for students through on-campus venues and identification of off-side conferences and opportunities; attending campus programs; participating campus committees as needed, and other duties as assigned.

The successful applicant will be able to communicate effectively and professionally in oral and written communication, have an understanding of student development and adult development theories, be able to facilitate student activity fee allocation and administration, have knowledge of program development, understand higher education and state funding processes, and ability to provide outcome assessments.

Required Qualifications: A graduate degree in Student Affairs or related field, plus five (5) years’ experience with increasing responsibility in higher education administration.

Preferred Qualifications:  Doctoral degree in higher education administration or related field is preferred; significant experience in the delivery of campus life programs at a metropolitan university is a definite plus. Knowledge of and experience with fraternity and sorority life, as well as registered student organizations is preferred.
