Position Description

Position Description

The University of Louisville seeks an innovative individual for the leadership position of Director of TRIO Student Support Services. The Director is responsible for coordinating a federally funded grant that provides support services to low-income, first generation students and students with disabilities to achieve a bachelor’s degree.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, and oversee the day-to-day operation of the SSS program designed to support student success, retention, and graduation in compliance with all federal regulations and grant specifications.
  2. Manage the annual operational budget and all financial aspects of the program in compliance with federal regulations, university policy, and grant specifications.
  3. Direct the operation of the TRIO Student Support Services program including the selection, training, management, and professional development of staff.
  4. Create and maintain collaborative programs and partnerships with institutional departments
  5. Maintain positive relationship with Department of Education Program Specialist as required to manage and maintain grant.
  6. Maintain and monitor the program database as required by grant.
  7. Respond to requests for information, prepare and submit reports as required by US Department of Education and University of Louisville.
  8. Conduct regular program assessment activities in conjunction with the Division of Student Affairs to document outcomes and effectiveness.
  9. Assist University Admissions with the recruitment of new students and direct program recruitment efforts as vacancies occur to ensure that the program always serves the designated number of students.
  10. Coordinate efforts that may be required to maintain or resubmit for grant funding or related grant funded programs.
  11. Represent the Deans of Students Office, the Division of Student Affairs, and the TRIO program at University functions and on University committees as requested.
  12. Serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs leadership.

Job Requirements


Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in a related field and five years of related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Must have 4-5 years of experience in designing, administering and managing programs, including staff supervision, budgeting, recordkeeping. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with educational support programs designed for low-income, first generation and other high risk student groups.
