Position Description

Lincoln Land Community College is hiring for the Director, Student Engagement to develops leadership programming and co-curricular alignment opportunities and supports student clubs and organizations. The Director actively contributes to LLCC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives by serving on LLCC’s Campus Climate Team and by developing intentional student programming. Additionally, this position develops policies for office personnel, supervises full-time and student employees, maintains the department budget, and oversees the student engagement program.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience but will be no less than $63,305 per year with an excellent
benefits package.
 
Job Duties
  • Contribute to holistic development of students through comprehensive programming related to leadership and professional development, cultural competency, celebrating diverse lived experiences, service learning, and other topics related to the intellectual stimulation and identity development of students.
  • Provide leadership for the day-to-day student life operations and supervise and lead the student life program assistant and student workers.
  • Oversee student engagement budgets including general revenue accounts and Student Activity Fee funded accounts and develop the annual Student Activity Fee budget.
  • Manage contracts for services, performances, etc. that support student engagement.=
  • Assess the effectiveness of the student engagement program.
  • Support student clubs and organizations and their advisors to plan and implement educational, social, and cultural programming. Develop training for club leaders and advisors while interpreting and enforcing college policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, advise, support and train Student Government Association (SGA) members and students who serve on Quality Council teams, and oversee the annual election process for the SGA and Student Trustee.
  • Advise, train and support the Logger Activities Board.
  • Manage the day-to-day functions of the LLCC Food Pantry, by assessing student need, developing donation campaigns and staying up to date with food pantry best practices.
  • Actively contribute to LLCC’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives by serving as a resource for identifying student needs and perceptions of campus climate; developing programs, strategies, and interventions for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the student population; and serving on the Campus Climate Team.
  • Work collaboratively with committees and departments organizing and implementing multicultural programming, including, but not limited to, Multicultural Fest, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and cultural history month celebrations.
  • Initiate, plan, implement and assess LLCC’s student recognition ceremony.
  • Cultivate a welcoming and engaged virtual and on-campus student experience through programming and events for new students and programing designed to increase student retention.
  • Assist with LLCC’s annual commencement ceremony.
  • Recruit and support student involvement on college committees.
  • Participate on college committees as appropriate
  • Be knowledgeable of local, state and national compliance requirements pertaining to, but not limited to, food safety regulations, raffle licensing, peddlers licensing, etc.
  • Assist in the college planning and assessment program by developing annual work unit objectives that impact long-range priority goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience with student club advising and leadership/development training
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population
  • Budget management experience
  • Ability to collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and solve problems
  • Detail orientation, strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and good time management skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and to travel locally, regionally, and nationally with student leaders
Preferred Qualification
  • Master’s degree in Student Development or Higher Education Administration
  • Experience in a community college setting
