Position Description

Provides leadership and direction to a comprehensive department comprised of testing and student disability services that serves students and the campus community.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee departmental operations, and financial activities; supervise all personnel –professional, support, and student staff; simultaneously manage, prioritize and delegate multiple tasks serving a wide range of constituents
  • Promote testing and student disability services provided by the department to relevant stakeholders
  • Strategic planning, data collection and reporting; research, investigate and recommend assistance and options for students
  • Assess the services and implement continuous improvement plans
  • Promote and represent department. Establish and maintain relationships with campus, and external partners. Communicate testing procedures, policies, and programs. May serve on committees and project teams

Supervision Received

Completes work guided by policies and university plan. Reports to the Assistant/Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs.

Supervision Exercised

Supervises professional, support, and student staff in Testing and Disability Services.

Has accountability for the performance and results of a team within own function.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and professional experience in higher education is preferred
  • At least 6+ years’ experience managing staff and processes
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong supervision skills are required
  • Ability to establish and follow clearly defined procedures
  • Knowledge of student development, standardized testing practices and procedures, diversity laws and policies related to ADA is desirable
