Position Description

The Director for the Center for Residence Life provides leadership and direction for all areas within RIT's on-campus residential program, including responsibility for supervision of a large professional and paraprofessional staff, over $3.5 million budget, and for providing the residential students with a comprehensive program of educational, social and co-curricular experiences focused around the department's core values of Student Success, Well-Being, Collaboration, Inclusion and Community Engagement.  The Director will work closely with campus partners in Housing Operations, Dining and Student Auxiliary Services, Public Safety,  Facilities Management and will have a thorough understanding of both the operational and educational aspects of residential communities.

Major Responsibilities

Direct supervision of 4-5 professional and administrative staff on the leadership team and central office support team; Oversight of all department staff and paraprofessionals including supervision, training and professional development.
Manage department budgets and strategic financial planning.  Ensure that all department staff are fully trained and supported in the execution of standard budgetary protocols and cultivate a culture of stewardship for University resources.
Develop and maintain a residential community and curriculum for 7,500+ students that fosters and advances the core values of the department and the strategic focus of the division and aligns with the University Strategic Plan.
Develop and advance partnerships and collaborative relationships within Student Affairs as well as key university stakeholders to strategically develop long range planning, make data-driven and resource sensitive decisions and enhance the overall experience of on-campus living.
Serve as a critical incident contact person for residential incidents, rotating on-call duty with other department leaders as needed.
Serve on division and university committees, task forces and special projects as assigned.
Participate in professional development with a special focus on competency in diversity and inclusion, technology and administrative leadership.

Education
Masters Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field required

Experience
8-10 years of progressive leadership experience is required.  Professional and administrative experience in higher education is strongly preferred
