Position Description

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has an opportunity for an Educational Adviser to provide high quality academic and career development advising to up to 100 undergraduate scholarship recipients who are exceptional students with financial need. The Educational Adviser is responsible for a caseload of typically juniors and seniors from the Cooke College Scholarship program and the Cooke Undergraduate Transfer program. This position focuses academic advising and guidance towards the objective of supporting all scholars to thrive at our nation’s top colleges in preparation for fulfilling professional lives. Particular advising attention is placed on transfer student transition and post-graduate planning for graduate school and careers. In support of the advising focus, the educational adviser contributes to developing resources and program activities, including content for Scholars Weekend.


Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree in student advising, career counseling, higher education, or related field preferred; minimum of three years of experience in a college or university, scholarship organization, foundation, or other relevant setting; and experience working with undergraduate level high-achieving students preferred. Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge of graduate school and career advising processes; a high level of written and oral communication skills and abilities and staff and interpersonal relations; and a strong detail orientation and ability to work independently and simultaneously on multiple projects within close, overlapping and/or conflicting deadlines.
