Position Description

University College is dedicated to students achieving excellence at LSU. Academic and personal success is the hallmark of a well-rounded student, and University College provides a foundation of support services for students beginning their academic careers at LSU. Since its establishment in 1933 as “Lower Division,” University College has served as the portal of entry for most incoming freshmen enrolling at LSU. It also serves many returning students and transfer students who are not yet eligible for admission to a degree-granting senior college on campus. The two enrollment divisions of University College are The Center for Freshman Year and The Center for Advising and Counseling. In addition, a variety of retention-specific programs that focus on particular student populations are a significant part of the role and mission of University College.

This position reports to LSU’s Vice Provost  for Academic Programs and Support Services. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall fiscal, planning, and supervisory functions of University College.

Duties and Responsibilities: The principal duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director shall consist of, but are not limited to the following:

Fiscal Management - Provide leadership for fiscal management of University College budgets, oversee units within the college through the respective unit directors and manage activities involving the University College Advisory Board.

Administration and Support - Manage and implement of all University policies pertaining to University College students, carry out strategic planning for University College in conjunction with the Vice Provost, and maintain involvement with appropriate University councils, committees, and activities.

Program Execution-   Work closely with Enrollment Management, the senior colleges, the Office of the University Registrar and other University offices as needed to help achieve University enrollment and retention goals and improve retention and matriculation out of UCFY and UCAC into senior colleges and other institutions.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and experience managing undergraduate advising programs and services

Additional Qualifications:  Excellent leadership, management, organizational and communication skills are paramount.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD or Ed.D
