Position Description

The Department of Student Engagement at Northeastern State University is excited to offer two graduate assistantships for the 2019-2020 academic year:

  • GA for the Family Program
  • GA for Leadership Development

Graduate Assistant for the Family Program is primarily resposible to assist in coordinating the Family Program including:

  • Work with campus partners to collect, organize, and disseminate information to Family Program Members
  • Collaborate with Coordinator of Orientation and Community Engagement to develop, implement, and assess family/guest tracks of SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration) sessions.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of annual and special events
  • Compiling and analyzing assessment data for the NSU Family Program
  • Arranging meeting with other departments to expand program offerings
  • Assisting in long-range planning for the NSU Family Program
  • Managing email flow, including responding to students, family members, faculty, and staff questions and concerns
  • Other tasks and operations as needed/appropriate

Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development is primarily resposible to assist in coordinating, implementing, and expanding the leadership development curriculum, the cornerstone of which is the Leadership Certificate program, including:

  • coordinating marketing efforts for the leadership certificates
  • selecting, training, and supervising the Student Leader Assistants with the help of the coordinator
  • co-facilitating the Introductory and Intermediate Leadership Certificates
  • compiling and analyzing assessment data for leadership programming
  • managing email flow, including responding to students, faculty, and staff questions and concerns
  • assisting in long-range planning for leadership development programming
  • other tasks and operations as needed/appropriate

Job Requirements

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or be awarded one prior to beginning GA contract. Successful candidate must be able to be admitted to an NSU graduate program.
