Position Description

Responsible for working with a wide variety of campus constituent groups to support new students during their transition into Clarion University and help coordinate services that help them begin to develop the skills, attitudes, and dispositions to become informed self-advocates who accept personal responsibility for their education. The Coordinator, under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, will assist with the development and refinement of the New Student Orientation program for all Clarion campus FTIC and Transfer students; aid in the development and implementation of Welcome Week for all new students; coordinate the New Student Mentoring Program; coordinate all aspects of Parent & Family Services, and assist with other retention initiatives as directed


Job Requirements

Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education; minimum of one (1) year of professional campus or assistantship experience in orientation or new student programs; candidates must possess a comprehensive knowledge of best practices related to new student orientation and retention initiatives; strong interest in mentoring, developing, and supervising students; willingness to work collaboratively with other staff members/offices/departments. Preferred qualifications include: Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment; experience or skill with conflict resolution, leadership training, team-building, and developing collaborative networks; demonstrated commitment to and appreciation for issues of diversity and community; and excellent communication and public speaking skills. Positions contingent upon funding. 

Applicants must complete a successful on campus interview. Prior to employment the successful candidate will be required to obtain and submit current clearances from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI.
