General Summary

As part of the Student Involvement team, the Coordinator for Student Organizations & Campus Activities serves as the lead staff administrator for all programs and services of DePaul University approved student organizations to promote development and growth in student involvement and student organization success for the 10,000+ students that are part of student organizations. This position also contributes to Campus Activities at DePaul, having oversight of DePaul After Dark while significantly contributing to Welcome Experience Programming. Additionally, this position plays an integral role on the Student Involvement team, supporting departmental vision and mission, while developing and contributing to departmental goals.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Create the strategic initiatives, trainings, and programs for 350 recognized student organizations and advisors.
    • Create curriculum to provide student leadership development, organization development and success, and membership retention.  
    • Conduct analysis of involvement data and interprets that data to develop or adjust strategic initiatives to support student organizations.
    • Create, implement, manage, and assess/evaluate key student organization events, such as Fall & Winter Involvement Fairs and OrgConnect Conference, and lead organization recognition efforts.
    • Create, review, revise, and implement the training and resources for student organization advisors.
    • Provide research and best practices related to student organization leadership development and organization success.
  • Serve as the lead staff administrator for all programs, trainings, and services of DePaul University approved student organizations to promote development, growth, and success in student involvement. 
    • Oversee the registration and renewal process for DePaul's 350 student organizations.
    • Serve as Student Affairs point person for General Counsel, Student Centers, and Dean of Students to identify and address risk management issues for student organizations.
    • Create, implement, advocate, review, and enforce DePaul University policies and guidelines related to all registered student organizations.
    • Create, review, and revise student organization handbook annually.
    • Manage OrgSync, DePaul's online engagement network.
  • Oversee DePaul After Dark, DePaul's weekly Thursday-night programming in the Lincoln Park Student Center. Includes oversight of a student committee, budget, and additional event preparation details, including contract oversight and negotiation.
  • Contribute to quarterly Welcome Experience Programming in conjunction with the Assistant Director for Programming.
  • Supervise one graduate assistant and various teams of undergraduate student employees/interns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Master's Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education/College Student Personnel/Counseling or related field.

Preferred Requirements

  • Administrative experience with student organization registration, training, and development.
  • At least 1-2 years experience in advising college students and advising student organizations and working with diverse populations (2 years of graduate experience will equate to one year of professional experience).
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience supervising others.
  • OrgSync administrative experience.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Supervision of one graduate assistant/part-time staff member, and various student teams and graduate interns when applicable.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assorted budgets up to $70,000.

Other Skills & Abilities Required

  • Ability to facilitate leadership development and conversations with student organizations. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to engage collaboratively with departmental team and university areas.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students and colleagues in writing, verbally, and in presentations.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships and engage collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and university partners.
  • Work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to plan large-scale events with attention to detail and multiple stakeholders.  
  • Ability to develop effective training sessions and modules for large groups of student leaders. 
  • Ability to learn technology solutions and possess technical skills to support existing systems and processes. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Additional Information

  • Some evening and weekend work required.
