Carnegie Mellon University Qatar (CMU-Q) department of Student Affairs is searching for an engaged, energetic and collaborative licensed Psychologist to join our dynamic team in Doha, Qatar. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team professionals in a department whose importance is underscored by the tremendous investment of university resources in its programs and staff as well as an unwavering commitment to serving our student’s wellness needs.  Although you will be primarily responsible for providing individual psychotherapy and a range of clinical services for our diverse student body, with a strong appreciation for working in a team environment, we will look for you to support our model of engaging with our team of highly dedicated staff toward delivering an inter-professional approach to care and services.

Other core responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individual counseling;
  • Performing psychological evaluations for undergraduate students;
  • Consulting with students, faculty, staff, families/parents, and other providers regarding mental health issues or concerns;
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and necessary statistics of psychotherapeutic and other client contacts, in compliance with ethics, law, and best practices;
  • Leading prevention and consultation services efforts for the university community;
  • Providing crisis intervention services including participation in the on-call after hour's rotation and back-up triage services;
  • Assisting in the training of students, staff and faculty functioning in support roles; and
  • Delivering outreach programming and consultation to the campus community.

You should be able to travel both domestically and internationally and be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.

This position is for a three (3) year contract with the potential for renewal.

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor degree in the field of psychology or related field And Postgraduate Doctoral degree (example: Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D., D. Clin.Psy) from an accredited psychology or related program.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience working as a provider in a university counseling centers required.
  • Successful completion of a supervised doctoral internship accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) with a minimum of 2000 hours preferred.
  • Licensed or license-eligible in professional discipline. If not currently licensed, must be independently licensed in professional discipline within six months from the date of hire.  
  • Proven experience in diagnostic assessment, crisis intervention and risk assessment, and brief psychotherapy is a must.
