Position Description

A small, public university in a coastal setting that enrolls more than 2,000 students from around the world, the University of South Carolina Beaufort is a dynamic and vibrant academic community that serves the South Carolina Lowcountry and beyond.

The Office of Housing and Student Conduct promotes four core values to ensure the best version of each student, they include community, sense of belonging, engagement and accountability. The Division of Student Affairs is deepening its commitment to these values through programming, cross campus collaboration, and learning outside of the classroom.  

The Residence Life Coordinator is a member of the Student Development Staff at USCB and reports directly to the Assistant Director of Housing and Student Conduct. The Residence Life Coordinator is a live-in position and is specifically responsible for theadministration of the entire residential area on campus and the direct supervision of 3-20 student staff who are assigned to that area.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience with StarRez Housing Software, Maxient Judicial Software and Banner preferred.Understanding and working knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, procedures, and practices pertaining to the state of SC and public university is preferred.Live-on campus in a furnished apartment and participate in on-call duty rotation with other professional Housing staff.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Must possess good knowledge of the overall principles, policies, and general practices of office management. Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. In addition, must be able to learn other software applications as needed. Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and able to handle fast paced and intense environment where you will be asked to think critically when solving issues. Excellent customer services skills and a willingness to be proactive in solving student concerns.


Job Requirements

Job Duty:  Hire, train and supervise the 18-20 Resident Assistant staff members, and 2 Assistant Resident Directors. Facilitate opening and closing of the residence halls. Monitor the condition of the facilities for safety, cleanliness, damage, etc. and assist with management of the facility like room condition reports and work orders. 

Job Duty:  Manage and allocate the Resident Assistant programming budget of 3-20 Resident Assistants.  

Job Duty:  Assist with ensuring the living environment enhances student growth and development and encourages student engagement and retention.  Communicate university and residence hall policies and their rationale.

Job Duty:  Work with students who experience peer conflict to acheive civilty and resolution.  Follow-up with those involved in incidents.    

Job Duty:  Conduct administrative conduct hearings as needed. Assist students with personal, social, and academic concerns and respond to crisis situations.

Job Duty:  Participate in professional on-call rotation.  Oversee RA training, RA In-service, and engagement efforts to provide sufficient contact between the Office of Housing & Student Conduct and the residential population.

Additional duties:  Represent the Office of Housing and Student Conduct on committees as required during the academic year.  Availabitlity during some nights and weekends.  Be able to climb three flights of stairs during emergency response.

TPE Grad Ambassadors represent the most engaged schools across the country, and from their ranks. In the Ambassador role, graduate students from institutions are provided advanced information about TPE resources and programs to assist their fellow students who are planning to job search in the coming years. Selected Ambassadors work with The Placement Exchange in a variety of ways. Primarily, Ambassadors serve on campuses as the main communication conduit to their peers and faculty. They are given the most up-to-date information about all of the resources available within Student Affairs through The Placement Exchange and our sponsoring associations (ACUHO-I and NASPA) in order to convey important information to their peers and other prospective candidates on campus.
